How to Open File Extensions

Different file extensions open with different programs. Here’s how to choose or change the default application for a given extension.

Windows

  1. Right-click the file → Open with → Choose another app
  2. Pick the app and check "Always use this app"

macOS

  1. Right-click the file → Get Info
  2. In "Open with", choose the app → Click "Change All"

Linux

  1. Right-click the file → Properties
  2. Select the default application for this file type

JSON-specific
